Vadym Halaichuk, First Deputy Chair of the Committee on Ukraine’s Integration into the European Union, held a meeting with Ireland’s Minister of State for European Affairs and Defence, Thomas Byrne.

Ця зустріч стала важливою можливістю обговорити євроінтеграцію з країною, яка пройшла цей процес понад 50 років тому.

This meeting provided a significant opportunity to discuss European integration with country which went through this process more than 50 years ago.

Vadym Halaichuk thanked the Government and people of Ireland for their support and significant assistance to Ukraine. During the meeting, he focused on Ukraine’s European integration efforts:

·     the adoption of legislation relating to European integration;

·     the implementation of the necessary reforms as part of the European integration process;

·     communicating with the public about the changes that Ukraine’s EU membership will entail;

·     maintaining high levels of support for European integration within Ukrainian society (currently exceeding 80%).

“Ukraine is already gradually integrating into certain EU policies – from access to the single market to participation in joint infrastructure projects,” emphasised the First Deputy Chair of the Committee.

The Irish side noted that, despite initial difficulties, European regulations had ensured free trade, safeguarded food and health standards, and significantly raised living standards.

“Ireland is ready to continue helping us, in particular by training Ukrainian civil servants in the intricacies of EU enlargement,” concluded Vadym Halaichuk.
