Both the European Parliament and the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe remain committed to a just peace for Ukraine. That is why there will be enough votes in the European Parliament to approve the decision to grant our country a €90 billion loan.
This was stated by Yevheniia Kravchuk, Member of Parliament, member of the Servant of the People political party faction and permanent delegation to the PACE.
«The European Union has already decided to allocate €90 billion. Now this interest-free loan, which Ukraine will repay only if russia pays reparations, must be approved by the European Parliament. Just last week, I had a meeting in Brussels with the largest factions and groups in the European Parliament. And there will definitely be enough votes. The vote on the procedure will take place this week, and the vote on the substance will take place in March,» the politician said.
According to her, this is an extremely important step, as Ukraine will be able to use about 60 billion of the total amount for the security and defence sector.
«The wording of which weapons the funds can be used for is also important here. Of course, priority will be given to production within the European Union and Ukraine. But if there are no analogues, we must also be able to purchase the weapons we need,» said the MP.
She added that the January session of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe will begin soon, during which Ukraine will again be the focus of attention.
«Ukrainian issues, resolutions and debates are planned. In particular, the resolution being prepared by the Political Committee will concern a just peace for Ukraine and security for Europe. Obviously, the issue of security guarantees for Ukraine will also be discussed,» the parliamentarian said.
