Chair of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU Ivanna Klympush-Tsyntsadze, First Deputy Chair of the Committee Vadym Halaichuk and Committee member Dmytro Liubota are participating in the COSAC Conference of the Committees on European Affairs of the Member States of the European Union and on European Integration of Partner Countries and Candidate Countries for EU Membership, which is taking place in Copenhagen.

Speaking at the session «A Strong Europe in a Changing World: The Course Set by the Danish Presidency,» the Chair of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU thanked Denmark for its strong agenda on sustainability and security in Europe. She stressed that a strong Europe starts with a simple truth: «We cannot be strong if we reward aggression.»

According to Ivanna Klympush-Tsyntsadze, Ukraine has been resisting russia for twelve years and has a clear formula for resilience. First, it is a strong defence. «Europe needs to scale up faster, coordinate better and invest smarter. For our part, we not only need but also offer our capabilities, experience and partnership to build resilience together,» said the Committee Chair. The second important factor for Europe's resilience, in her opinion, is sanctions and punishment. «Pressure on russia must remain stable and effective. Sanctions work when loopholes are closed and the price of aggression increases every month. And there must be accountability for war crimes and the crime of aggression, because peace without justice is only a pause before the next war,» said Ivanna Klympush-Tsyntsadze. Thirdly, reparations. Ukraine needs resources to survive and recover, and these resources must come from frozen russian assets. «russia is now desperately trying to prevent you from adopting your decision on the reparations loan. However, I hope that you will be able to make this decision and that trust in Europe will remain strong,» the Committee Chair emphasised. The fourth important component of a strong Europe, in her opinion, is EU enlargement and unity. The Chair of the Committee also stressed that no negotiations on Ukraine can take place without Ukraine, just as negotiations on the future of Europe should not take place without the participation of European leaders.

During bilateral meetings, the delegation of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU discussed with European partners the need to increase military support, energy and financial assistance to Ukraine. The internal political situation and the fight against corruption were also discussed. «I also called on my colleagues to proactively defend our common position on the inadmissibility of ending the war on russia's terms, as russia is trying to seize the moment and force us to capitulate, which is unacceptable for Ukraine, Europe and our common security,» said Ivanna Klympush-Tsyntsadze.
