The Verkhovna Rada delegation held a series of substantive and important meetings with colleagues from the Danish Parliament. Denmark ranks fourth in terms of the amount and value of aid provided to Ukraine. In particular, it was Denmark that proposed a mechanism for direct financing of our defence industry by the governments of other states for the purchase of weapons. Denmark is a reliable ally of Ukraine.
This was stated by Yevheniia Kravchuk, a member of the Servant of the People political party and the permanent delegation to the PACE, who headed the Ukrainian delegation.
«Denmark, despite being a small country, ranks fourth in terms of the amount and value of aid provided to Ukraine. In addition, Denmark has proposed a model for financing our defence complex for better and greater weapons production. It finances our defence industry itself and even collects funds from other countries. Neither Denmark nor other European countries, nor other countries of the civilised world, of course, want to and will not recognise the Ukrainian territories occupied by russia. This would mean that the rule approved after 1945 on the inadmissibility of changing borders by force would cease to exist, and this would apply to everyone, not just Ukraine,» the parliamentarian noted.
According to her, Denmark is also Ukraine's ally in the issue of allocating the so-called reparations loan.
«I think this is a key decision that we expect from our European partners in December, when the European Council meets. I really hope that one of the three legal options already proposed by the European Commission regarding the reparations loan will be chosen. This will send a strong signal not only to russia that Europe stands with Ukraine, but also to the United States that Europe is actively involved in ensuring stability and security on the European continent,» the MP stressed.
She added that the progress achieved in Geneva on peace talks now needs to be developed.
«We see that the American side is listening to Ukraine's arguments. At the same time, as I emphasised to my fellow parliamentarians in Denmark, the problem, as always, will be the russians, who will continue to talk about “their goals” and that they are not complete. Therefore, we need to start thinking about additional pressure on russia when it starts to drag out the peace process again,» the politician stressed.
