This was announced by Roksolana Pidlasa, Member of Parliament and Chair of the Parliamentary Committee on Budgetary Matters.
"The amendments to the 2025 budget provide for an increase in defence spending by UAH 325 billion. The largest amount – UAH 211 billion – will be allocated to the needs of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, and UAH 99 billion will be allocated separately to the production and purchase of weapons for the Armed Forces. Funds will also be allocated to other law enforcement agencies, such as the National Guard, the Main Intelligence Directorate of the Ministry of Defence, the State Border Service, and the Foreign Intelligence Service," the politician noted.
According to her, the additional funding is almost entirely provided by the European Union.
"The government appealed to the European Commission, and for the first time since the start of the full-scale invasion, we received permission to use EU macro-financial assistance for the needs of military personnel and for defence. This amounts to €6 billion, of which €4 billion has already been transferred to the National Bank, and we expect another €2 billion by the end of the year. It will be used both to pay our defenders and to purchase drones, ammunition and weapons," the MP concluded.
