The Chairman of the Committee on Ukraine's Integration into the EU took part in an online meeting with his Canadian collegue, Randy Hoback, a member of the Conservative Party.
Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze thanked Canada for its military and humanitarian support to Ukraine but noted that the scale of russia's crimes in Ukraine was unprecedented, so the world's response should be much more significant: "The number of victims and the brutality with which the occupiers are attacking Ukraine shows that russia aims to wipe our people off the world map. We have experienced this in the past, during the Holodomor genocide, during the Second World War, and now we are experiencing it again. russia is cynically destroying homes, schools, hospitals, kindergartens, and maternity hospitals. Violates all possible laws of war - treacherously shoots humanitarian corridors". According to the chairman of the Committee, the assistance that the world is currently providing to Ukraine is already a tectonic shift. However, the free world is still a few steps behind putin's crimes against the Ukrainian people. "I think the world was stunned by the way Ukrainians are fighting. Both the Kremlin and the West were convinced that Ukraine would fall in a few days, but putin's planned blitzkrieg turned into his blitz failure. And that's because people are really united around defending their country. Many of our men are returning from abroad. More than 140,000 returned home and defended Ukraine. But we cannot fight with our bare hands. That's why we call on our friends who share our values ??- we need support. "
[13:30, 15.03.2022] Олена Костинюк: Ivanna Klympush-Tsintsadze called on Canada to help internally displaced persons in Ukraine and work with international humanitarian organizations that have not yet come directly to Ukraine to help people. "The Red Cross, for example. They work from Poland. It is good, of course, to work with Poland, but they should be here to help Ukrainians here. Millions of people worldwide donate enough money to these organizations to provide real help. And this is another area where Canada can join and help," the Committee Chair concluded.
