At today´s meeting of the Ukrainian Part of the Committee on Parliamentary Cooperation between Ukraine and European Union, the delegation members elected the People´s Deputies, Anatoliy Kinakh and Oleh Shevchuk, Vice-Chairmen.

The delegation members established date and place of holding the Tenth Meeting of the Committee on Parliamentary Cooperation between Ukraine and the EU. The meeting will be held in Brussels on 26-27 February 2008.

According to the Ukrainian Part, "the delegation should intensify its activity due to ambitious tasks, planned for the nearest future in Ukraine-EU relations". Inter alia, this refers to negotiations regarding signing of a new basic agreement, creation of  a Free Trade Zone after Ukraine´ joining the WTO, complete implementation of the Action Plan Ukraine-EU, extension of dialogue on visas and readmission, after relevant agreements between Ukraine and European Union come into force.

The Committee on Parliamentary Cooperation between Ukraine and the EU can apply for relevant information and receive recommendations of the Council on Cooperation, since the Committee is a forum for exchange of opinions between The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine representatives and the European Parliament.

As the result of the meeting, the Committee adopted Final Declaration and Recommendations that were forwarded to the Council on Cooperation, The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and the European Parliament. The Recommendations will be considered as adopted, provided they are endorsed by the most members of the Ukrainian Part and the European Parliament Committee on Parliamentary Cooperation.
