Olexandr Moroz, the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, calls on the representatives of legations, accredited in Ukraine, to inform their Governments of a real situation in Ukraine on the eve of parliamentary election on 30 September.
At the meeting with the diplomats, accredited in Ukraine, held on Thursday, 20 September, O.Moroz emphasized importance of their appraisal of the current situation and prediction for the future, after 30 September.
Addressing the foreign diplomats, O.Moroz expressed his anxiety concerning efforts to discredit The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Constitutional Court and the entire judicial system, the General Prosecution of Ukraine, the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine, local self-government bodies, and "even the President´s Institute" that is "being destroyed due to the plan of its conversion into the superpower absolute authority body in Ukraine".
According to O.Moroz, "not only authority institutes are being destroyed in Ukraine, but also democratic principles, such as parliamentary and judicial systems, local self-government".
To settle the situation, the Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada deems necessary to strictly adhere to the Law and "not to convert it to the object of political games", and to specify the issue concerning authority distribution in the Constitution. "Moreover, the President is always regarding the Constitution of Ukraine as "feeble". I do not dare use the abusive word "feeble" towards the Basic Law. However, I do believe that it requires further improvement," stated O.Moroz.
The Chairman expressed his regret that Ukrainian political crisis restrained development of contacts with both Western, and Russian investors which negatively influenced development of trade and economic cooperation.
The Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine emphasized possible exploitation of administrative resource and forged ballot papers during the election, rewriting of protocols, intimidation of district election committee members, substitution of ballot boxes, corruption among judges, etc.
O.Moroz also believes in possible recurrence of crisis after the election. He states that the said possibility in contained in election campaign itself, since it is conducted by the presidential forces, and "the President is the main agitator for "Our Ukraine", which violates the Laws".
