At the meeting, held on request of the Polish Party, the participants discussed current state and prospects of Polish-Ukrainian cooperation on the large number of issues that belong to the terms of reference of the Committee on Foreign Affairs. Inter alia, they discussed work within Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Ukraine and the Republic of Poland and Ukrainian Polish-Lithuanian Inter-Parliamentary Assembly.
Oleh Bilorus called for further development of inter-parliamentary relations between the countries, answered the questions concerning prospects of Committee´s work and internal policy in Ukraine.
The Parties drew special attention to regulation of the complicated situation at Ukrainian-Polish border after Poland joined the Schengen zone. Both Parties demonstrated interest in further cooperation at the level of relevant committees.
During the meeting the Parties also discussed extension of cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Poland, development of cooperation in the field of trade, trade and economic relations, environmental protection, science, education etc.
The Committee Chairman informed Mr Szerepka of results of work concerning creation of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Deputy Group on inter-parliamentary relations with the Republic of Poland. He stated that a great number of the People´s Deputies of Ukraine are willing to work in this group.
