The Committee on Environmental Policy, Use of Natural Resources and Elimination of Consequences of Chornobyl Disaster recommends that the Parliament adopts in entirety the Bill on Amendments to several Laws of Ukraine (re Disclosure of Information concerning Radioactive Contamination Zones)

The Bill (Reg. No. 0936) envisages legislative regulation of the issue concerning obligatory disclosure of information by the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine regarding list of settlements, related to radioactive contamination zones due to the results of annual dosimetric certification, with indication of anticipated doses of public irradiation.

The Committee members believe that accumulation of new scientific data concerning consequences of Chornobyl disaster, health of the affected population and number of other factors requires further improvement of legislation in the field of protection of the affected. Availability of information regarding radioactive contamination levels is one of such actions.
