While the Bill (Reg. No. 0895) was being prepared to the second reading, 34 proposals were submitted, 24 of which were entirely taken into consideration, 9 partially, 1 was rejected.
The People´s Deputy Volodymyr Moisyk, reporting on the Bill at the Committee meeting, stated that it aims at enhancement of legislation appertaining to prevention of domestic violence by means of diversifying forms of work with the victims of family violence, establishing new types of administrative offences, including obligatory course of alcoholic treatment for persons who resort to domestic violence, and introducing correction work with persons disposed towards domestic violence in order to create non-violent behavioral models.
The Committee members upheld adoption of the Bill. They are of the opinion that it will positively influence the state of prevention of offences committed within the family; facilitate creation of effective mechanism for securing legal safeguards in protection of rights and legitimate interests of the family members who represent the objects of measures taken to prevent domestic violence. It will also promote effective response of internal affairs bodies to this type of offence.
