The Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information recommends that the Parliament adopts in entirety the Bill on Amendments to the Law "On Advertisement" (re advertising Tobacco Goods and Alcoholic Beverages)

The Bill (Reg. No 0938) envisages improvement of mechanisms of State control over advertising activity in Ukraine, and enhanced restriction and prohibition appertaining to advertising tobacco goods and alcoholic beverages.

At the meeting, the Committee members took into consideration the amendment that introduces a ban on advertising alcoholic beverages and tobacco goods in the settlements by means of exterior advertisement since 1 January 2009.

The Committee members believe that implementation of the statements of the Bill will promote limited consumption of alcoholic beverages and tobacco goods by the Ukrainian citizens.
