The Bill (Reg. No. 4003) aims at reforming printed media, established by the bodies of State authority and local government. Taking into consideration the statements of the European Council PA Resolution "On Implementation of Obligations and Commitments by Ukraine", such reform will facilitate establishment of legal basis for independent activity of printed mass media.
The Bill consolidates the legal basis of independent activity of printed media, determines the principles of political, economic and ideological diversity in presenting the processes and events in Ukraine and abroad by the mass media.
According to the authors of the Bill, this reform will limit influence of the bodies of State authority and local government on the printed mass-media; settle their minimal exploitation in manipulation with personal opinions of the public. The reform will also secure social guarantees for the journalists of State and communal printed mass media.
