During the first - third Sessions of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the 5th Convocation, the Committee on Economic Policy forwarded 138 Bills for parliamentary consideration. Pursuant to the report, 23 Laws out of 138 submitted Bills were adopted in their entirety (15 of them became effective), 18 Bills were passed as a basis, 6 forwarded for revision, 12 declined or voted down, 19 Bills were not considered.
For the said period of time were held 32 Committee sittings. 292 issues were discussed during the meetings. The Committee also prepared opinions and proposals to 154 Bills, the subjects of which were not in Committee´s terms of reference.
The report states that the most important document is the Law "On the State Program of Economic and Social Development of Ukraine for 2007", adopted by the Parliament, that determines key tendencies of economic and social development of the country for the current year.
The Committee also considered about 20 Bills aimed at coordination of national legislation with regulations and requirements stated in the WTO agreements, and this is, undoubtedly, a great achievement. In this context, special attention should be devoted to the Law "On Amendments to the Law of Ukraine "On Foreign Economic Activity", adopted by The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
