Between 21-26 September, The First Vice-Chairman of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine A. Martyniuk is making a working visit to the Volhynian Region.

During his mission, A. Martyniuk has visited the city of Lutsk and the Lokachi, Manevychi, Kamin-Kashirsky, and Liubeshiv Districts, and has met with the public, Chairmen of local councils and the local media.

Replying to questions as to the expected development of the social and political situation in the country, he stressed that 'his political force has made no hollow promises, preferring always to address concrete matters concerning the improvement of the workers' life.'  'A number of funding sources can be found to achieve this:  first of all, the nationalization of budget-filling sectors and production, such as the manufacture of alcohol and tobacco products. Secondly, the introduction of a progressive Profit,

Wealth and Luxury Tax. This implies the transfer of the tax burden from labour to capital. Thirdly, the introduction of a State monopoly for oil and gas production, and mining of coal and other mineral resources. Fourth, the repeal of corruption-ridden VAT and reinstatement of turnover tax    Fifth, a 50% reduction in expenses towards the running of the State machine.  This is not a full list of measures required. The abolition of Presidentship alone can add almost one million hryvnias to the budget', stated the First Vice-Chairman of the The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.

Those in the  Liubeshiv District (Adam Ivanovych was born in the village of Vetly within this District), who have for several years received substantial aid and support from their well-known compatriot, thanked A. Martyniuk for having solved many of their problems. For example, it was through his efforts and with their sponsors' support, that a secondary school was built in Vetly which has become one of the best in the country.  Gas has been piped to the villages of Liubeshiv, Birky, Mala Hlusha, Shchytyn, and soon will also be available in Nevir, Vetly and Mukoshyn. Other improvements include the renovation of clubs, the provision of new equipment and facilities for the District Police Station, the Nove Zhyttia newspaper and the District Recreation Centre, tidying up of the cemetery in Selisok, the repair of Liubiaz and Viazivno Schools and Kindergartens in Liubeshiv and Derevok, an First Aid Posts in Shlapan abd Liubiaz. The construction of a bridge over the River Stokhid is now in its final planning stage.  Early in 2007, a new club was commissioned in Liubeshivska Volia, built with A. Martyniuk's assistance. A new Community Centre was opened in Mukoshyn, including a Club, a Library, an Ambulance Station and Post Office.
