In his report at the PA OSCE Standing Committee meeting, the Secretary General summed up the annual results of PA activities throughout the year and praised the work of International Secretariat by saying that it was "fruitful and efficient".

He also said that the fall meeting in Malta, especially the Standing Committee meeting, and Mediterranean Forum attended by 250 participants from 51 states, were really successful. At the 6th Winter Session in February 2007 in Vienna, Committee reporters presented tentative reports and resolutions for consideration in Kyiv. At the request of PA OSCE President G.Lennmarker, extended discussion of energy safety issue was held.

Spencer Oliver also mentioned the issues considered during a two-day economic conference in Andorra that was attended by nearly 200 participants, to discuss international trade problems.

The Secretary General also mentioned PA OSCE participation in the election observation mission. The Assembly sent its observers to Serbia, Armenia, Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina, Latvia, Tajikistan.

Spencer Oliver also mentioned that the PA currently has seven Special representative all of who perform their important duties in close cooperation with local OSCE missions.

An intrinsic part of OSCE activities is also the work of its Special Committees the Special Taskforce on Belarus, the Parliamentary Group on Moldova, Special Committee on Abkhazia and Special Committee on Transparency and Accountability.

Speaking about the PA budget, the Secretary General emphasized that "financial management of the Assembly is perfect, accounting is properly organized and financial situation is stable". Spencer Oliver also acknowledged the contribution of young staff members of the International Secretariat in organizing the Assembly´s functioning. He added that their assistance made it possible for the Secretariat to work in all OSCE official languages.
