For Reference:

The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly was established in 1991. The representatives of the national parliaments of the 56 OSCE participating States are the members of the Assembly.

The OSCE Parliamentary Assembly is convened annually for the Winter Session in February and for the Annual Session in July. Such meetings result in the final declarations, numerous resolutions and recommendations. Apart from these meetings, the activity of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly is represented by the conferences and seminars concerning development and consolidation of democracy through parliamentary cooperation. The parliament members work both in the committees, and in the special missions during which they visit the regions where either "frozen conflicts" or the potential menace to peace and democracy is noticed.

The chief bodies of the Assembly are the following: the Permanent Council (it consists of 56 leaders of national delegations and the members of the Ministerial Council), the Council (it consists of the President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly, nine vice-presidents and the Treasurer), the Ministerial Council and three General Offices.

The President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly is the Swedish representative Goran Lennmarker, who was elected on the 15th Session of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly in Brussels (Belgium) in July 2006.
