The Committee on National Security and Defence recommends that the Verkhovna Rada adopt as a basis and in entirety the law on amendments to several legislative acts of Ukraine re bases of foreign policy and priorities of national interests of Ukraine

The Committee adopted this decision on the December 9 meeting.

People's deputies considered three bills: on amendments to several laws of Ukraine (re ensuring and guaranteeing national security of Ukraine) under Reg. No. 1014; on amendments to several laws of Ukraine re ensuring and guaranteeing national security of Ukraine (under Reg. No. 1014-1); on amendments to several legislative acts of Ukraine re bases of foreign policy and priorities of national interests of Ukraine (under Reg. No. 1014-2). 

Chairperson of the Committee Serhii Pashynskyi claimed that in 2010 a decision on declaration of Ukraine as "non-aligned" state was adopted. "Today it is extremely important to amend several laws of Ukraine re determining the course towards Euro-Atlantic integration and Ukraine's accession to the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO)", said S.Pashynskyi. 

The Committee members unanimously upheld the bill under Reg. No. 1014-2 as the most profound one. According to them, this will allow ensure implementation of the course of Ukraine towards European integration in conditions of potential and real threats to territorial integrity and sovereignty of Ukraine.
