Mykola Palamarchuk, who was the Deputy Chairperson of the Committee during the previous convocation, was elected Committee’s First Deputy Chairperson.
Kostenko Pavlo Petrovych, Kuprii Vitalii Mykolaiovych and Mosiichuk Ihor Volodymyrovych were elected Deputy Chairpersons of the Committee; and Herashchenko Anton Yuriiovych was elected Committee’s Secretary.
A.Kozhemiakin noted that four people’s deputies have already worked in the Committee during the previous convocation of the Verkhovna Rada.
Committee Chair drew attention to the fact that the Committee “is one of the leading ones in terms of the number of elaborated bills and those referred to the Verkhovna Rada.”
The Committee Chair, his deputy chairpersons, Committee’s Secretary, chairpersons of the subcommittees and Committee members have allocated responsibilities during the meeting.
A.Kozhemiakin provided information on the Committee’s jurisdiction and suggested establishing six subcommittees.
Committee members upheld the suggestion.
During the Committee’s meeting:
people’s deputy Viktor Korol was elected chair of the subcommittee on matters of activity of internal bodies, tax militia and other law-enforcement bodies;
people’s deputy Vladyslav Bukhariev was elected chair of the organized crime control subcommittee;
people’s deputy Volodymyr Mysyk was elected chair of the subcommittee on matters of activity of the prosecutor’s office;
people’s deputy Volodymyr Soliar was elected chair of the subcommittee on criminal and criminal procedure legislation;
people’s deputy Yevhen Deidei was elected chair of the subcommittee on administrative infringements legislation;
people’s deputy Yurii Miroshnychenko was elected chair of the subcommittee on matters of activity of the State Penitentiary Service.
Committee Chair outlined the tasks the Committee is facing.
A.Kozhemiakin addressed Committee members with a request “to get involved in preparation of the law on misdemeanor, elaboration of which is stipulated by the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.”
According to him, it is also necessary to refine and adopt the bill on probation elaborated during the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the sixth and seventh convocations.
A.Kozhemiakin noted that the Committee will also work on the issue of reforming activity of the penitentiary service.
The Committee will attach attention to refining the system of activity of criminal justice bodies in the sphere of full compliance with the rights and freedoms of a human, as well as securing lawfulness.
