Greetings on

the Day of the Ukrainian Writing and Language

Dear compatriots!

I sincerely congratulate you on the Day of the Ukrainian Writing and Language!

Oles Honchar once said "Language is the destiny of our people, and it depends on how dedicatedly we will be cherishing it".

The Ukrainian language is one of the most melodious languages in the world. It has absorbed the song of the nightingale, mother's lullaby, whisper of a spring garden, and growl of Dnipro which awakens after the winter sleep. When speaking Ukrainian we dive in this beautiful and very powerful atmosphere.

Today the Ukrainian language is a symbol of the fight for independence and the right to chose one's own path. Not because Ukrainians are revolutionists by nature, but because we have a very strong striving for justice.

Ukraine is a polynational state, alongside with Ukrainian there has always been Russian, and depending on the region – Crimean Tatar, Romanian, Polish, and a lot of other languages. We are always ready for a dialogue in any language, but we also demand to respect and not oppress our native language.

"The language grows simply, together with the soul of people", more than a hundred years ago wrote Ivan Franko. So let's preserve and develop our soul!
