“In connection with provocations near the building of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the session hall is almost empty,” said Oleksandr Turchynov after the break in the plenary session.

Thereat, he expressed conviction that those throwing explosive devices and trying to attack the building of the Parliament, “consciously wanted to disrupt the today’s meeting.” “They did not want important economic issues connected with law-enforcement activity to be adopted,” added Chairperson of the Parliament.

At the same time, Oleksandr Turchynov noted that today the people’s deputies “managed to adopt strategically important package of laws connected with fighting corruption.” “This is an enormous benefit,” he claimed, adding that if there were no provocations near the building of the Verkhovna Rada, the people’s deputies could have adopted also some other laws.

“In connection with the fact that there is much less than 226 people’s deputies in the Verkhovna Rada and there is no possibility to consider and vote on any issue, I adjourn the today’s plenary session,” said Oleksandr Turchynov.

Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada intends to hold consultations with leaders of deputy groups and factions regarding holding another plenary session “under usual conditions when the Verkhovna Rada would be able to adopt decisions and vote efficiently.”

Previously, Oleksandr Turchynov addressed participants of the action near the Parliament asking not to disrupt work of the only legislative body.
