Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, Acting President of Ukraine Oleksandr Turchynov met with Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign and European Affairs of the Slovak Republic Miroslav Lajcak on Thursday.
In the course of the meeting, the Parties discussed current developments in Ukraine and the issue of reverse gas supply from Slovakia to our country.
According to Oleksandr Turchynov, despite provocations and aggression of the Russian Federation, the new authority settles issues connected with stabilization of the country “actually in an everyday mode.”
Apart from this, the Parties have discussed prospects of visa-free regime for Ukraine with the European Union. In this context, Oleksandr Turchynov expressed hope that “the package of laws that will grant Ukrainians a visa-free access to the European Union will be adopted in the nearest time.”
Commenting on the prospects of energy supply, Chairman of the Parliament stressed that gas supply for Ukraine “is an extremely topical issue.” “Reverse supply will help our country hold out in the extreme condition of aggression on the part of the Russian Federation,” said Oleksandr Turchynov.
In his turn, Miroslav Lajcak stressed that Slovakia deems actions of the Russian Federation to be “true aggression.” “We do not and cannot recognize Russia’s actions in Crimea,” he stressed.
Speaking of Ukraine’s European aspirations, Deputy Prime Minister stressed that Slovakia “is ready to uphold the historic choice of Ukrainians.” “Europe wants to see Ukraine within the family of European countries. On our part, we are ready to do our best to help you on this way,” stressed Miroslav Lajcak.
