Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada Volodymyr Rybak expresses hope that the opposition representatives will join the All-Ukrainian round table “Let’s unite Ukraine”, initiated by the first President of Ukraine Leonid Kravchuk, aimed at finding a peaceful way out of the crisis.

Speaking during the round table, the Chairman of the Parliament stressed that students were the first ones on the Maidan “without political slogans, they expressed their support of Ukraine’s European integration, and this is exactly why they called their Maidan “Euromaidan.” According to him, the opposition used this protest energy of the young to implement its own ambitions.

Having estimated situation in the country, Volodymyr Rybak stressed that today “we need an accurate assessment of actions from both sides.” He emphasized importance of keeping current processes in the country in the constitutional way not yielding to “false political appeals.”

He paid attention to the fact that Ukrainian opposition forces and leaders actively use foreign political instruments of pressure on the government in Ukraine demanding “international mediation”, and not starting a constructive dialogue with the government. “No one will make our lives better but us,” said the Chairman of the Parliament, stressing that, first of all, we should ensure state’s integrity by not dividing it into the East and the West, “we should heal the wound.”

Volodymyr Rybak emphasized significance of a thorough objective investigation and assessment of all violations happening lately.

Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada addressed the young and the students “aspiring a better tomorrow for their country, standing on the Maidan for European Ukraine”, and stressed that “this future is born in students classrooms and on factory floors, it is not built by the crowd.”

Volodymyr Rybak supported the initiative of the first President of Ukraine regarding the work of this round table. Representatives of the government, the Parliament and NGOs participated at today’s meeting.
