According to official information, provided by the Ministry of Income and Levy of Ukraine, there was no unauthorized interference into data bases, hacking of customs’ servers or that of the ministry by unknown persons.

The First Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ihor Kalyetnik said this, commenting on information of the allegedly hacked servers of the Ministry of Income and Levy.

“Dissemination of such information has no legal grounding and testifies to planted nature of the abovementioned information,” said Ihor Kalyetnik.

He called absurd referring to the fact “that customs servers include secret files with information on corruptive actions and abuses”.

“Customs servers include information on foreign policy transactions. There can be no copies of documents concerning corruption, so much the more secret ones. All data from the servers of the Ministry of Income and Levy are daily referred to the Security Service of Ukraine and the Prosecutor’s General Office,” said I.Kalyetnik.

“I come into question when similar articles appear on the respected and well-known web sites,” he stressed.

“Especially in view of the present preparation of the Verkhovna Rada to consideration and adoption of the bill registered under No. 0947 that aims at establishing transparent conditions and providing mass media with unlimited access to information under seal “for internal use.” During the meetings with NGOs, I have expressed an idea that such a bill should be adopted and I will no doubt adopt it,” stressed the First Deputy Chairman of the Parliament.

He explained that this bill pertains to the possibility of mass media to receive data on state procurement, general urban development plans, minutes of meeting of local self-government, the possibility for journalists to be present at the parliamentary sessions without accreditation, to participate in the work of committees, as well as sessions of oblast, regional and township councils.”

“But there arises a rhetorical question: is mass media ready for the possibility to obtain such information and to give it objective coverage?” he said.

“I would like to once again draw attention of mass media to learn how to use information instead of look for sensations, and to adhere to professional standards and deliver information only if there is certainty of its authenticity,” stressed the First Deputy Chairman of the Parliament.
