Close cooperation between the parliaments of Ukraine and Poland is and important constituent of the whole complex Euro-integrational processes.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak stressed this when opening the VII Meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Ukraine and the Republic of Poland in Kyiv on Monday.
Volodymyr Rybak named another meeting of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of Ukraine and the Republic of Poland “a good occasion to jointly consider and settle problems that are ahead of us”.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada emphasized that since the establishment of the Assembly, the Ukrainian and Polish parliament members have considered many issues in the political, economic and safety spheres, as well as in the inter-human communication. “Commitment to the idea of good-neighborly relations between our independent states and sovereign people has always been the main value of our parliamentary meetings,” he said.
“The past almost 10 years of cooperation with Poland have become the synonym of cooperation with the European Union. After Poland’s accession to the EU in 2004, its example of rebuilding the society in line with the European standards and rules of life has become an exemplar for Ukraine,” claimed Volodymyr Rybak.
The Chairman of the Parliament named development of good-neighborly relations between our countries, based on mutual pardon, respect and support to be an urgent need.
“I emphasize that our people and states are connected by age-long history and traditions. National minorities are the reliable bridge that unites us. Meeting of cultural and economic needs of national minorities should be in the field of special attention of the parliaments. Any problems in this sphere should be urgently settled with the help of open and constructive dialogue,” he said, adding that the current meeting should continue reconciliatory process and unification of Ukrainian and Polish people, as well as decent commemoration of innocently fallen”.
I am convinced that such hopes are shared by tens of millions of both Ukrainians and our friends – Polacks, and by the citizens of other member sates of the EU!
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada wished the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly Ukraine-Poland “success, understanding, unity of efforts of the deputies of both countries for consolidation of the Ukrainian and Polish society, and wished all the good to future generations of Ukrainians and Polacks”.
