The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak participated in the celebration of the 230th anniversary of the Black Sea Fleet of Russia.
Addressing the participants of the Parade of ships, theatrical performance and guests of Sevastopol, Volodymyr Rybak noted that relations between the fleets of Ukraine and Russia promote strengthening of friendship between the both countries.
The Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament emphasized that the seamen of Ukraine and Russia have always had good relationships that “now actively develop and promote strengthening of commonwealth of our countries and fleets; ensure peace and stability in the region, as well as heroic and patriotic education of youth”. He is convicted that “joint celebration of the Victory Day, the 69th liberation anniversary of Sevastopol, and the current event have proved the importance of unity and mutual understanding between our brotherly people”.
Volodymyr Rybak expressed confidence that “fruitful cooperation between Ukraine and Russia in the sphere of ensuring security in the Black Sea Region shall further remain the priority direction of our partnership”.
In her turn, the Chairperson of the Council of the Federation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matvienko said that “the seamen of the Black Sea Fleet of Ukraine and Russia perform joint tasks both during holidays and on weekdays”. “I am convinced that equal partnership, friendship and mutual assistance between the military seamen of Russian and Ukrainian fleets will continue developing,” she said.
Participants of the celebration laid flowers to the Memorial “Heroic Defenders of Sevastopol in 1941-1945”; observed the parade of ships of the Black Sea Fleet in Sevastopol bay; and watched the theatrical performance devoted to the 230th anniversary of the Black Sea Fleet “230 years for the good and for the glory of Russia”.
