The Committee on Family Matters, Youth Policy, Sports and Tourism considered the issue of adherence to the requirements of legislation in regard to maintaining the activity of youth sports schools of all types of ownership in the Autonomous Republic of Crimea during the visiting session

The Committee Chair Artur Palatnyi drew attention of those present to the fact that youth sports schools provide for preparation of sportsmen reserve for the sports of higher achievements and involve a great number of children in going in for sports, which promotes their healthy development. However, according to the Committee Chair, lack of funding, as well as payment for public utilities by industrial enterprises’ tariffs are acute problems of youth sports schools today.    

A.Palatnyi noted that as of today, 26 kopecs are appropriated for one pupil of youth sports school a day, and UAH 1,5 a year for purchase of equipment.  

During the meeting of the Committee, the decision was taken to recommend the government increase expenditures for youth sports schools while elaborating the state budget for 2013. The Cabinet of Ministers was recommended to submit the bill on amendments to several legislative acts re formation of a single financing system of youth sports schools for consideration by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine; and to settle the issue of payment for public utilities by youth sports schools and other sports institutions by subsidized households’ tariffs.     

Committee members believe that the Council of Ministers and the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea should develop the respective measures to strengthen material and technical foundation of youth sports schools; and consider state of adherence to the requirements of the Law “On Physical Culture and Sports”, etc. 

Members of the Committee visited the Crimean Higher School of Olympic Reserve (village of Krasnolissya), the “Olimpiyets” youth sports school (city of Alushta), Alushta sports club “Bars” and presented the pupils of these institutions with football and basketball balls, boxing-gloves and other sports equipment. 

People’s deputies have also participated in the meeting of the Organizational Committee on preparation and holding of the III All-Ukrainian Olympics amidst deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, deputies of the Verkhovna Rada of the Autonomous Republic of Crimea, as well as regional, district, city (cities of regional subordinance), village and township councils that will be held on May 27 – June 1, 2013.
