Iryna Sekh discussed with the representatives of Chornobyl NGOs and international women organizations the state of preparation to the adoption of the recommendations of the Chornobyl parliamentary hearings that took place on 17 April 2013.

In particular, the Chairperson of the Committee noted that about 5 million people suffered from the Chornobyl disaster, 5 thousand settlements of Ukraine, Belarus and the Russian Federation are located on the contaminated territories.

According to I.Sekh, social support is provided to 2 132 257 people suffered from the Chornobyl disaster. Among them - 243 456 liquidators of the Chernobyl accident, 1 888 801 victims of the Chernobyl disaster, including 462 374 affected children.

For the last four years (2009-2013) number of people suffered from the Chornobyl disaster have decreased by 184 890 persons: 24 574 liquidators, 160 343 victims of the disaster, including 53 098 children.   

People’s deputy noted also that prepared by the Committee recommendations of parliamentary hearings aimed at social protection of population suffered from the Chornobyl disaster.
