The initiator of the event, the people’s deputy of Ukraine Mykola Tomenko noted that pooling efforts of both the people’s deputies and the publicity shall promote protection of environment, and that of flora and fauna.
M.Tomenko informed that the draft law on amendments to several legislative acts of Ukraine regarding protection of flora and fauna, which he has submitted jointly with the group of people’s deputies, suggests amending a number of laws.
M.Tomenko stressed that adoption of the bill will allow significantly refine legislation in this sphere; enhance protection of territories and objects of natural reserve fund; and will help fight poaching.
The Chairman of the subcommittee of the Committee on Environmental Policy, Use of Natural Resources and Chornobyl Aftermath Mitigation Andriy Tiahnybok emphasized that people’s deputies are seeking to more effectively counteract destruction of environment.
The Chairman of the All-Ukrainian organization “Fishermen Community of Ukraine” Andriy Nelipa suggested prohibiting advertising and spread of poaching tools in the Internet.
The people’s deputy Mykola Tomenko suggested involving mass media in explanatory work in order to combat poaching.
By results of discussion, people’s deputies took the decision to address the Prime Minister, the Minister on Internal Affairs and the Chairman of the State Environmental Service with the suggestion to enhance activity of law enforcement and environment protection bodies in order to hold broad outreach campaign.
Participants of the meeting got acquainted with modern tools for poaching.
