During the meeting with Marshal of the Senate of the Republic of Poland Bogdan Borusewicz and Marshal of the Sejm of the Republic of Poland Ewa Kopacz in Warsaw, Volodymyr Rybak noted that the issue of support of Euro-integrational aspirations of our state by Poland, as well as holding of the European Football Championship 2012, cultural and humanitarian component of our relations, and discussion of the historic past of our people, etc has been in the focus of attention of Ukrainian and Polish parliament members for the past two years.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada named the Inter-Parliamentary Ukrainian-Polish Assembly to be an important factor in deepening of bilateral inter-parliamentary dialogue. He informed that the Seventh Assembly Session is planed to be hold in Kyiv in September-October this year, and invited Polish colleagues to participate in the event.
“We are interested in continuing fruitful cooperation with the Polish Parliament both at the bilateral and trilateral levels,” he claimed. “I am convinced that the Fifth Session of the Inter-Parliamentary Assembly of the Trilateral Assembly “Ukraine-Poland-Lithuania” shall help to “synchronize our clocks” before the important events connected with rapprochement of Ukraine to the European structures,” he added.
Volodymyr Rybak expressed hope to elaborate “a clear scheme of our joint actions” during Lithuanian presidency in the European Union, especially in the context of Ukraine’s intention to sign the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement during the Eastern Partnership Summit in Vilnius in November this year.
Mrs. Ewa Kopacz said that the Polish Party is especially interested in the status of implementation of reforms that aim at gaining the right to sign the Association Agreement with the EU. She expressed readiness of the Polish Party to exchange experience both between parliament members and experts.
