Opening the meeting, Committee Chair Viktor Chumak addressed all the present with a warning not to turn discussion into political issue and noted that the Committee “is always open for public to participate in the work over the issue”.
Characterizing the state of legislative basis of anti-corruption activity, V.Chumak noted that a number of recommendations of the Group of Sates against corruption that are based on the provisions of world standards, and several other anti-corruption initiatives are not realized.
He noted also that the Committee, in its current composition, has started working over improvement of normative basis in the sector of corruption fighting, particularly, by approving the Provision on state expert council at the Committee.
V.Chumak drew attention to the fact that the bill to amend the Law “On Principles of Corruption Prevention and Counteraction” and the Rules of the Procedure of the Verkhovna Rada (re refinement of certain provisions) (Reg. No. 2577) has been registered in the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
Participants of the round table discussion discussed the existing tendencies in the work of law enforcement and judicial bodies in the sphere of corruption counteraction, as well as implementation of the State corruption prevention and counteraction program for 2011-2015, approved by the Decree of the Cabinet of Ministers of November 28, 2011 No. 1240.
Attention was also focused on the number of investigation of corruption cases among officials. It was noted, in particular, that this figure is quite low today, despite publication of a large number of high-profile anti-corruption investigations in the media.

As was noted during the round table discussion, public organizations follow implementation of the provisions of the State corruption prevention and counteraction program, implementation success index of which is equal to 2,7 grades of 5 possible.
