The Organized Crime Control and Anti-Corruption Committee recommends that the Parliament should adopt as a basis the bill on the Anti-Corruption Bureau

According to the members of the Committee, the aim of the bill (Reg. No. 2218) is to create the National Anti-Corruption Bureau – law enforcement body with special status, subordinate, controlled and accountable to the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.   

The main functions of the bureau are:

organization and implementation of systematic counteraction to corruption and malfeasance;

conducting investigative activities, reports on administrative offences and pre-trial investigations.

The bill proposes also to establish that the Chairman of the Bureau to be appointed and dismissed by the Verkhovna Rada, by the proposition of not less that 150 people’s deputies.  

It was stressed also that the body to be created on the basis of special subdivisions on organized crime control and anti-corruption of the Security Service of Ukraine and subdivisions of the Main Department of crime control of the Ministry of Internal Affairs.
