The Committee on Foreign Affairs recommends that the Parliament should ratify the Agreement on Co-operation of Member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States in struggle against theft of cultural values considering clauses made during the signing of the Agreement

By the majority of votes members of the Committee supported the decision that the Verkhovna Rada should adopt the bill (Reg. No. 0013) on ratification of the Agreement considering clauses made during the signing of the Agreement. 

It was stated during the meeting that ratification of indicated international agreement that was concluded on 5 October 2007 in Dushanbe will create legal basis for coordination of cooperation between Ukraine and member states of the Commonwealth of Independent States concerning the issues of struggle against theft of cultural values and their restitution, better protection of rights and legitimate interests of citizens of Ukraine in this sphere.   

The Agreement provides partnership in such areas as the improvement and harmonization of the regulatory framework on the issues of: struggle against theft of cultural values and their restitution; analysis of state and dynamics of crime related to theft of cultural values, and the results of the struggle against them, improving mechanisms of interaction between law enforcement and other authorities to take concerted action to combat the theft of cultural values, their search and restitution.
