On Friday, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak met with representatives of deputy factions and discussed the ways of settling the situation in the Parliament.
Volodymyr Rybak said this in his interview to the Rada TV Channel.
According to him, deputy chairmen of the faction leaders were present at the meeting. “We found out what is the opposition concerned with. They formulated several questions which, if settled, shall unblock the work of the Parliament,” said Volodymyr Rybak.
In Particular, opposing factions raised the issue of appointing the date of Kyiv City Mayor election, as well as the issue of consideration of “opposing” legislative initiatives not only on Wednesday, but during any plenary meeting day.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada noted that “elections have already started for opposition”, and expressed an idea that if opposition continues behaving this way “it will fail to fulfill its promises before voters”. Thereat, he stressed again the importance of normalizing the work of the higher legislative body in the interest of the state:
“Obligations before the Council of Europe should be fulfilled,” noted Volodymyr Rybak, and expressed hope for these issues to unite deputies of all political forces.
“I hope that the Verkhovna Rada shall work the next week,” he said.
