During the meeting with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the French Republic to Ukraine Alain Remy on Wednesday, Volodymyr Rybak stated that the course to the European integration remains invariable strategic priority of Ukraine “which we consider as the course of implementation of deep political and socio-economic changes aiming at improving of living standards of Ukrainian citizens.”
“We work actively to lay developed legal basis that would take into consideration the best European experience in the core of realization of national Euro-integrational priorities,” he said. In this context, Volodymyr Rybak expressed his hope that the National Assembly and Senate of France will share with Ukrainian Parliament their “vast experience of legislative work.”
“Implementing a program of large-scaled reforms, Ukrainian society is aware of the scope and nature of the challenges that must be solved in the nearest future. That is why we adequately perceive criticism and comments of our Western partners and are ready to continue work towards strengthening of democracy, political stability and economic prosperity of our country,” the Chairman of the Parliament said.
At the same time he emphasized that the conclusion of the Association Agreement will be the best incentive for Ukraine from the point of view of further intensification of democratic development and the rule of law. Volodymyr Rybak informed that on 22 February 2013 the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted the Statement on fulfillment of Euro-integrational aspirations of Ukraine and conclusion of the Association Agreement between the EU and Ukraine.
“I hope that France will remain one of our key partners within Euro-integrational processes and continue to provide constructive and effective support to further Ukraine's rapprochement with the European Union,” the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada said.
In his turn, the Ambassador noted that the renewal of work of Ukrainian Parliament and adoption of the Statement on fulfillment of Euro-integrational aspirations became an important precondition for the EU-Ukraine Summit on 22 February 2013. “This voting brought together the representatives of different political forces,” he said.
According to Alain Remy, France “positively accepts the perspective of signing the EU-Ukraine Association Agreement during the East Partnership Summit in November this year in Vilnius.”
