Opening the workshop, devoted to the presentation of the OECD Sector Competitiveness Project for Ukraine, particularly, to the best international practices to increase competitiveness of Ukraine in the sector of small and medium enterprises, Hryhoriy Nemyrya thanked OECD members for their attempts in this direction.

“The future of Ukraine is in the European Union, but our country should be competitive,” he stressed. According to him, small and medium enterprises can play an important role here.

“Sector of small and medium enterprise is crucial for the social market economy, due to its possibility to create new workplaces and, thus, make the most significant contribution into the European labour market,” noted H.Nemyrya. “European economy requires healthy small and medium enterprises and the latter need equal playing rules, guaranteed by strong competition policy. Administrative load on this sector should be decreased,” noted the Committee Chair.

In this connection, he stressed that “entrepreneurship should be the catalyst for innovation and stable development in Ukraine”.

The member of the Committee on European Integration Borys Tarasiuk also participated in the seminar.
