The Chairman of the Committee on European Integration Hryhoriy Nemyria met with the OSCE Project Coordinator in Ukraine Madina Jarbussynova

The Parties discussed issues of cooperation between the Committee and the OSCE Mission regarding promotion project on establishing human rights and the rule of law in the law-making practice of Ukraine. In the frame of this project, the OSCE provided support to the Committee in adapting legislation in the sphere of human rights and development of institutional capacity of parliamentary and judicial authorities to international standards.  

 

It was stressed on the importance of quickest possible implementation of recommendations proposed in OSCE/ODIHR Election Observation Mission Final Report on the parliamentary elections 2012 in inclusive dialogue with the opposition, including any early moves towards establishing credible electoral system based on the Election Code.

 

The Parties noted also the importance of parliamentary dimension of cooperation between Ukraine and the OSCE. In this context, Hryhoriy Nemyria stressed the need of specific steps on the part of Ukraine regarding the issue of politically motivated persecution mentioned in the last OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Resolution adopted in July 2012.

 

Apart from this, the Chairman of the Committee invited the OSCE Project Coordinator to take the floor at the meeting of the Committee on European Integration and inform about implementation of the project “Promoting establishment of human rights and the rule of law in the law-making practice of Ukraine”.
