The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak discussed a number of issues of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and Azerbaijan with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Ukraine Eynulla Madatli

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak met with Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Ukraine Eynulla Madatli on Friday.   

 

A number of both general issues and those involving parliamentary component of bilateral cooperation between Ukraine and the Republic of Azerbaijan were discussed during the meeting.

 

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine noted that our country pays significant attention to developing relations with Azerbaijan both in the context of existing formant of relations, and in the dimension of developing meaningful strategic partnership between Kyiv and Baku. According to him, high dynamics of development of Ukrainian-Azerbaijani dialogue, including at the inter-parliamentary level, during the previous year testifies to the abovementioned fact. He also expressed confidence that the official visit of the Azerbaijan President Ilham Aliyev and the Fourth meeting of Council of Presidents of Azerbaijan and Ukraine within the framework of this visit shall be key events of 2013.

 

Volodymyr Rybak expressed gratitude to the authorities of the Azerbaijani Parliament for active participation of its observers during elections to the Ukrainian Parliament in 2012. “Their objective and informed assessment was extremely important for Ukraine,” he said.  

 

The Chairman of the Parliament stressed the importance of “friendship groups” in inter-parliamentary cooperation. Thereat, he noted that Ukrainian friendship group includes 36 people’s deputies. He believes that bilateral visits of these parliamentary groups will promote deepening of dialogue between the countries.  

 

Thus, according to the Chairman of the Parliament, it is important to use multilateral format, including within the framework of parliamentary assemblies, in order to further develop contacts between parliamentarians of both countries. He highly appreciated stable economic and trade relations between the states and noted that Ukraine is interested in searching new ways to further activate cooperation.

 

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine noted that Ukrainian-Azerbaijani cooperation actively develops not only due to trade and economic, but also cultural and humanitarian spheres, particularly, due to the sphere of science and contacts between higher educational institutions of both countries. As an example of practical cooperation between Ukraine and Azerbaijan, Volodymyr Rybak named preparation of Azerbaijani specialists for space industry on the basis of Azerbaijan National Academy of Aviation, involving teaching staff of Oles Honchar Dnipropetrovsk National University. 

 

In his turn, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Azerbaijan sent his greetings to the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada on the occasion of his election to this post and on behalf of authorities of the country invited Volodymyr Rybak to pay an official visit to Azerbaijan in the nearest time. E.Madatli believes that bilateral visits will deepen mutual relations between both countries and help actively develop cooperation in various spheres.
