Ukraine makes consistent efforts to ensure progress in implementing reforms, particularly, those compelling most attention of the European Union. This was stressed by the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Rybak during the meeting with the EU Commissioner for Enlargement and European Neighbourhood Policy Stefan Fulle.
The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada noted also that the Parliament shall, in close cooperation with the Council of Europe and the EU, continue its work aimed at improving election legislation in order to eliminate drawbacks of the latter election process.
Volodymyr Rybak expressed gratitude to the Ukrainian partners in the EU for suggestions regarding proper refinement of justice system in Ukraine. In this context, he appreciated the activities of the European Parliament Authorized Representatives A. Kwasniewski and P.Cox, noting that the Verkhovna Rada is ready to provide maximum assistance in mandate implementation.
In his turn, Mr. Commissioner noted that “we have been for years discussing the possibilities ahead of us, but this year, we have real chances to bring Ukraine closer to the European Union”.
Stefan Fulle informed that he has met with the Prime Minister of Ukraine Mykola Azarov and with the ministers, responsible for European integration” today. He noted that Ukrainian Government understands the necessity of implementing reforms in the sphere of productive legislation, judiciary and “issues provided by the association agenda”. He stressed also the necessity of bringing Ukrainian legislation in line with the European standards and expressed gratitude for the possibility to communicate with the deputy corpus today.
