The Committee on Freedom of Speech and Information considered problematic situation with some mass media

Members of the Committee are concerned about the possible arrest of the account of Fortetsia (The Fortress) newspaper and termination of its publication.

 

The Committee considered also the situation around eavesdropping device in the private home of a journalist of Ekspress newspaper (Lviv). By results of discussion, the head of the subcommittee on TV and radio broadcasting Mykola Kniazhytsktyi was instructed to control further consideration of this issue in person.

 

The Committee considered also the issue on demolition of stands owned by JSC “Presa-M” that are a part of Kartel publishing house (Kryvyi Rih of Dnipropetrovsk region). In this regard, people’s deputies resolved to address the Kryvyi Rih mayor with a proposal to postpone the demolition of stands.

 

People’s deputies discussed also the problem of excluding the Rada TV from the social package in some regions of Ukraine.

 

Members of the Committee approved the Plan of Work of the Committee for February – July 2013.
