The Committee on National Security and Defense recommends that the Verkhovna Rada should adopt as a basis and in entirety the bill to approve the decision of the President of Ukraine to send national contingent for Ukraine to participate in the UN Operation in Cote d'Ivoire and cross-border operations within inter-mission cooperation between the UN Mission in Liberia and the UN Operation in Cote d'Ivoire

The bill (Reg. No.1192), determined by the Head of the State as immediate for extraordinary consideration by the Parliament, suggests approving the decision of the President of Ukraine to send the national contingent from among the national contingent within the UN Mission in Liberia for Ukraines participation in  the UN Operation in Cote d'Ivoire and transborder operations within the inter-mission cooperation between the UN Mission in Liberia and the UN Operation in Cote d'Ivoire within the timeframe determined by the UN Security Council.

 

The head of the Committee Volodymyr Lytvyn stressed the importance of peace-keeping activity for promotion of Ukraines economic interests in the countries where the Ukrainian peace-keepers are staying.

 

By the majority of votes members of the Committee supported the decision to recommend that the Parliament should adopt the bill as a basis and in entirety with consideration of the expressed proposals.
