In connection with statements that appeared in certain media outlets regarding alleged narrowing of broadcasting of plenary meetings of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Press Service of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat is authorized to state the following.
According to part 1 of clause 4 of the Resolution of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine “On the procedure of outlining the work of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine of the seventh convocation” (Reg. No. 1001 of 12.12.2012), the National Radio Company shall ensure live broadcast of
plenary meetings of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine and parliamentary hearings by the First National Channel NRKU.
According to part 2 of the clause 5 of the abovementioned Resolution, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat is mandated to ensure the broadcasting of plenary meetings of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine on satellite and cable parliamentary channel, as well as by cable networks.
We shall draw attention of mass media representatives to the fact that while presenting the draft Resolution the Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Ruslan Koshulynskyi noted that “the First National Channel of the National Radio Company shall carry out live broadcast of plenary meetings and plenary hearings “, as well as “carry out live broadcast of plenary meetings, TV programs “Parliamentary Day”, and forty-five minute programs involving people’s deputies by satellite and cable parliamentary channel”.
Taking into consideration all the abovesaid, we shall ask journalists to carefully follow the course of plenary meetings and thoroughly study the texts of the documents being considered by the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine.
