Only deputies that have not received official accommodation from the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine before and do not reside in Kyiv will receive apartments in hotels, subordinate to the Administrative Office of The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat. This was stressed on Monday, during the meeting of the Preparatory Deputy Group while considering the issue regarding housing of newly elected parliamentarians and people’s deputies, who previously lived in the hotels.
According to the Communist Party representative, people’s deputy of Ukraine Valentyn Matvieyev (the Chair of the third subgroup of the Preparatory Deputy Group), overall, 216 seats at the hotel are required.
He noted that 86 people’s deputies from the Party of Regions require residence. At the same time, 24 people’s deputies representing this political force already live in hotels, since they have been working in the Parliament of the sixth convocation.
All-Ukrainian Union “Batkivshchyna” requested accommodation for 43 people’s deputies. 20 people’s deputies from the Communist Party require hotel accommodation, only one of whom lives at hotel “Kyiv”. According to political party “Udar”, 19 people’s deputies require accommodation at hotel “Kyiv”. 27 people’s deputies from All-Ukrainian Union “Svoboda” are suggested to be accommodated at hotel “Ukraine”. 20 self-nominated people’s deputies are suggested to choose between hotels “Kyiv” and “Ukraine”.
V.Matvieyev noted that around UAH 21 millions are stipulated to be spent annually to pay for accommodation of people’s deputies. However, due to increase in number of newly elected people’s deputies, these funds shall be increased by UAH 10 million.
The Preparatory Deputy Group considered the issue regarding the procedure of forming factions, groups and parliamentary Committees. According to Volodymyr Rybak, the Chair of the respective subgroup, after the detailed analysis of current structure of the committees of the Verkhovna Rada, it is suggested to establish 27 committees and one Control Commission (today there are 26 committees and one Control Commission).
In this context, the Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine, the Chair of the Preparatory Deputy Group, Volodymyr Lytvyn stressed that “all political forces should get acquainted with this project; jointly agree on the number of the committees, their jurisdiction and the number of committees that should pertain to this or that faction”.
Members of the Preparatory Deputy Group generally agreed on the seating arrangements of people’s deputies in the session hall.
The subgroups shall continue their work during Tuesday-Wednesday.
Next meeting of the Preparatory Deputy Group will be held on December 6 at 2 p.m.
