The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn met with the Chairman of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova Marian Lupu in the framework of an official visit to Saint Petersburg (the Russian Federation) on Friday. 

 

V.Lytvyn stressed the high level of Ukrainian-Moldavian dialogue.

 

The Chairman of the Ukrainian Parliament highly appreciated the well-thought stand of Moldova representatives during the monitoring of election of people’s deputies of Ukraine and noted that there are all preconditions for further activating of inter-parliamentary cooperation.

 

Speaking on cooperation in trade and economic spheres, V.Lytvyn expressed an idea that we need to take measures to eliminate trade barriers, saying that an important role here is to be played by the parliaments.

 

The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine stressed the steadfast position of Ukraine regarding Transnistrian settlement, saying that it is based on strict adherence to the principle of territorial integrity of the Republic of Moldova.

 

V.Lytvyn addressed M.Lupu with a request to contribute to accelerating the process of execution of procedures by Moldova, required for enactment of the Agreement on cooperation to ensure the  rights of representatives of national minorities.

 

As it was mentioned before, V.Lytvyn participates in the IPA CIS events in Saint Petersburg on November 22-23.
