According to the calendar plan, the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine should work during three more plenary weeks. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn drew his attention to this fact answering journalists’ questions on Monday.

He noted that time distance between October 28 and the day when the newly elected Verkhovna Rada starts operating is quite long. V.Lytvyn reminded that according to the law, the Central Election Committee should determine final election results before November 12. After that, all those who disagree can submit their own arguments in five days to the Supreme Administrative Court that is obliged to consider the issue in two days. Though, V.Lytvyn said that there are “certain differences in terms of time”. Despite all, the Chairman of the Parliament noted, the CEC should officially declare the result of election in official publications not later then November 20. After that, those deputy candidates who combine their mandates with other types of activity prohibited by the Constitution should make their choice. Thus, the new constitution of the Verkhovna Rada could hold its first meeting not sooner then December 10, and taking into account all the terms – December 17, V.Lytvyn summed.

V.Lytvyn noted that the Verkhovna Rada did not hold plenary meetings after parliamentary elections since 1990: “For several times farewell meetings where held where everyone took pictures and went their own way”.
