The issue of setting the date for early elections in Kyiv should be based on political agreement and legal decision that would not be beyond the legal norms. The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada said this answering the journalists’ questions on Monday.

Parliamentary factions have no single or dominant stand regarding the date of local elections in Kyiv, - he said noting that there are suggestions to hold mayor elections first and then elections to the Kyiv Council or to hold them simultaneously. “We need to find legal decision since lawyers, including those from the specialized Committee, have come into collision and suggest addressing the Constitutional Court,” V.Lytvyn stressed.

He informed that the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine will consider the issue of setting early elections of city and village heads this Tuesday, however, the issue of elections in Kyiv will not be considered.
