The Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine adopted as a basis the bill on Single State Demographic Register

The bill (Reg. No. 10492) is aimed at introduction of the generally accepted European practice of creation and functioning of population register, and fulfillment of Ukraine?s obligations before the European community on the way to its membership in the European Union.

 

The bill regulates the problem of creation and functioning of the Single State Demographic Register and procedure of issue, exchange, prolongation, withdrawal, return to the state, and elimination of documents certifying identity and proving citizenship or special status.

 

In particular, the bill contains the norm stipulating that the Single State Demographic Register should contain the following information about a person:

 

first and last name of a person;

 

date of birth/death;

 

place of birth;

 

sex;

 

date of entering the information into the Register;

 

information about parents (step-parents), guardians, care-givers and other representatives;

 

information about citizenship or absence thereof and grounds for acquiring Ukrainian citizenship;

 

details of documents issued to the person;

 

information about the documents certifying person?s death or recognizing a person dead or missing;

 

digitized sample of a person?s signature;

 

digitized image of a person.
