Deputy Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Mykola Tomenko registered in the Parliament the draft Law to amend article 1 of the Law of Ukraine "On State Regulation of Production and Circulation of Ethyl Alcohol, Cognac and Fruit Alcohol, Alcohol Beverages and Tobacco Goods" (re restriction of alcohol beverage and tobacco goods sale places) (Reg.No.11232).

Mykola Tomenko said that during his meetings with Kyiv citizens, especially those from residential districts, the problem of numerous stands selling alcohol beverages is mentioned among the most serious ones.

"Kyiv community has long been demanding to remove these "crummy places" from residential districts. Especially it concerns establishing kiosks that have the right to sell alcohol beverages and low-alcohol beverages, including beer," M.Tomenko stressed. "However, their number has only been increasing lately," he added.

M.Tomenko reminded that the law adopted on his own initiative, according to which beer is equaled to alcohol beverages, prohibiting purchase and consumption of alcohol beverages in public places, has been valid for more than two years already.

Mykola Tomenko stressed that several districts in Kyiv, under the assistance of police and Kyiv authorities ignore the implementation of this law.

"Moreover, local authorities open new saleplaces of alcohol beverages and tobacco goods to cover budget gaps," he stressed.

To stop the attack on peaceful life of Kyiv citizens, Mykola Tomenko has registered in the Parliament the draft Law to amend article 1 of the Law of Ukraine "On State Regulation of Production and Circulation of Ethyl Alcohol, Cognac and Fruit Alcohol, Alcohol Beverages and Tobacco Goods" (re restriction of alcohol beverage and tobacco goods sale place) (Reg.No.11232). The bill aims at restricting beer, alcohol and tobacco sales by establishing 50 sq.m. as a minimum sales area for these goods (currently it equals to 20 sq.m.)

M.Tomenko stressed that he is not against small architectural forms or small business, however, it should not be used for selling alcohol beverages or tobacco goods.
