The bill (reg.No.11008) aims at harmonizing Ukrainian legislation with the legislation of the European Union in the sphere of maintaining effective functioning of the newest food products and ingredients market, as well as high level of protection of consumer?s health and interests pertaining to food products.

The document suggests establishing the notion of "the newest food product or ingredient" as a separate category of food products and establishing also, at legislative level, criteria to include food products to this category and determine legal and organizational principle of their circulation on the territory of Ukraine.

The bill determines the notion of the newest food product.

Upholding the bill in its entirety, the Committee members, however, expressed several remarks to the document, mainly aimed at concretization of separate provisions of the bill.

Apart from this, the Central Scientific Experts Office of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Secretariat made several appropriate remarks. Particularly, people?s deputies believe that the suggested mechanism of "express registration" of the newest food products is impossible to be realized since the sources, conditions and forms of presenting respective information, as well as free interpretation of this provision "will cause numerous violations and lead to creating corruption schemes".
