The Chairman of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Volodymyr Lytvyn hopes that financing of education will constitute at least 4% of GDP in the budget for 2013.
On Wednesday, speaking at the teacher conference in Yemilchyne district of Zhytomyr region, V. Lytvyn reminded that 6.6% of GDP falls to this sphere, which is obviously insufficient. The Head of the Parliament stressed that it is necessary to allocate at least 10% of GDP for education.
V. Lytvyn believes that an average salary in the sphere should constitute UAH 3,300 – equaling average salary in industry.
“Ukraine can and should grow by education only,” he stressed.
